Gunfire Erupts at Howe Park Injures Four People Injured in Arden-Arcade Sacramento

Sacramento County deputies are investigating a gunfire incident that took place Saturday evening at Howe Park in Sacramento while law enforcement were clearing an unlawful assembly of multiple hundreds of people.

What Led to the Shooting

Deputies initially responded to the Arden-Arcade park shortly before 6:30 Saturday evening after learning of persons possibly in possession of concealed weapons. Shortly after, another report was received mentioning an alleged brawl unfolding near the park.

An overhead unit searched from above but was unable to locate the reported altercation. Despite this, it became clear that several hundred individuals had packed into the park without any permit or approval.

How the Shooting Unfolded

Deputies worked to disperse the crowd by setting up around the park's perimeter and announcing over their public address systems ordering the assembled crowd to disperse at once. Around 15 minutes were given for individuals to vacate.

Just as the crowd began to move that upwards of 20 gunshots were discharged. The rapid succession of shots sent hundreds fleeing. Law enforcement swiftly started finding those who had been shot.

Four Gunshot Victims

Altogether, four people were confirmed as gunshot victims. The four individuals — made up of one woman and three men all believed to be in their twenties — were brought to hospitals in the Sacramento area. Emergency physicians reported that two victims sustained immediate injuries, one had moderate injuries, and one Arden Arcade shooting April 2026 had injuries classified as minor. According to authorities, all four victims survived and were stable.

Metro Fire Sacramento provided support and aided in treating those who had been shot at the park.

Evidence at the Scene

The main crime scene was believed to have unfolded adjacent to Cottage Way adjacent to the local Home Depot located at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Crime scene investigators identified additional shell casings throughout the Cottage Way area. Bullet damage were discovered in the wrought iron fence bordering the Home Depot store. This ballistic evidence confirmed that at least one of the shooters had been aiming south from along Cottage Way in the direction of the Home Depot. The Home Depot was locked down as a precaution. Forensic investigators and law enforcement detectives stayed at the location through the early morning hours.

Suspects Detained

Information obtained over police scanner frequencies indicated that a suspect Kia had been detained in Solano County California. Four detainees were detained. Sacramento law enforcement were traveling to Solano County to collect the individuals for investigation. Surveillance footage confirmed that the shooting involved two separate gunmen.
